Yan Feng, Principal Investigator

Yan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Transport and Planning at Delft University of Technology, Director of the Mobility in eXtended Reality (XR) Lab, and Principal Investigator of the BridgeXR project. Her research explores how eXtended Reality (XR)—including Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Reality—can be used to study human mobility and travel behaviour in urban environments across a wide range of transport modes, including walking, cycling, automated vehicles, and public transport.

Her work is driven by the ambition to create more human-centred and inclusive mobility systems. To this end, she develops and applies XR-based methods to investigate topics such as wayfinding, evacuation, human-vehicle interaction, safety training, and transport accessibility.

Tina Ekhtiar

Tina is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Delft University of Technology and a researcher in the Mobility in eXtended Reality (XR) Lab. Within the BridgeXR project, she co-develops accessibility solutions for public transportation. She earned her PhD from the University of Twente, where she used participatory design methods to investigate how personal informatics can support people with changing health goals. She also holds an MSc in Industrial Design Engineering from Delft University of Technology, during which she collaborated with VUmc and Erasmus MC.

Her work has been implemented at Erasmus MC’s Child Brain Lab and has received recognition from the Dutch Design Week (DDW), the Core77 Design Awards, the iF Design Award, and the James Dyson Award. She also holds a BSc in Industrial Design from San Jose State University. Before joining academia, she gained two years of industry experience, which she combines with a human-centred and creative approach to accessibility research.

Hana Šinković

Hana is a PhD candidate in the Department of Transport and Planning at Delft University of Technology and a researcher in the Mobility in eXtended Reality Lab.

Within the BridgeXR project, her research focuses on the use of eXtended Reality (XR) to support inclusive wayfinding and infrastructure design. Applying the principles of Universal Design, she develops and evaluates a theoretical framework and virtual reality–based tools for creating accessible infrastructure and wayfinding solutions. Her academic background is in human-computer interaction.

Leqi Wang

Leqi is a PhD candidate in the Department of Transport and Planning at Delft University of Technology and a researcher in the Mobility in eXtended Reality Lab. Her research focuses on urban accessibility and inclusive mobility for people with disabilities (PwD).

Within the BridgeXR project, she is developing a Theory of Change framework for inclusive travel journeys. As part of this work, she investigates the facilitators and barriers that people with disabilities encounter throughout their journeys and co-creates qualitative and quantitative accessibility metrics together with stakeholders. Drawing on her academic background in Geomatics and Geographic Information Science, she applies methods such as data visualisation, spatial analysis, and computer vision to support this research.
