The result? Social exclusion, lost opportunities, and a reduced quality of life. BridgeXR seeks to systematically identify and eliminate these barriers.

Reimagining accessibility

By combining cutting-edge eXtended Reality technologies with Universal Design principles and tailored training programs, the 34 public and private project partners reimagine accessibility at every stage of the travel chain. Through co-creation and learning communities, BridgXR brings together people with disabilities, transportation providers, policymakers, local authorities, consultants, and technology developers. This unique collaboration ensures that solutions are grounded in real needs and deliver real impact.

To put ideas into practice, BridgeXR runs case studies in urban multi-modal travel, campus commuting, and trips to and from airports. These living labs highlight accessibility challenges, foster collaboration, and allow for innovative solutions to be tested, refined, and scaled.

Paving the way

The impact goes beyond technology. BridgeXR is paving the way for greater independence and mobility, a higher quality of life, and more inclusive transportation policies. By showcasing the power of inclusive design, the project aims to inspire long-term change—making travel not only more accessible in the Netherlands, but also more inclusive worldwide.

Home > Over ons Werken aan toegankelijk reizen Het BridgeXR-project – voluit: Breaking Barriers for Accessible and Inclusive Journeys through eXtended Reality – pakt de toegankelijkheidsproblemen aan waarmee mensen met een beperking tijdens hun rit te maken krijgen.
