Shaping the Future of Accessible Travel<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

The BridgeXR project\u2014in full: Breaking Barriers for Accessible and Inclusive Journeys through eXtended Reality<\/em>\u2014tackles the accessibility challenges faced by people with disabilities throughout the travel chain. The project will run from 2026 to 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even today, public transportation and surrounding spaces often remain out of reach for many. The result? Social exclusion, lost opportunities, and a reduced quality of life. BridgeXR seeks to systematically identify and eliminate these barriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reimagining accessibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

By combining cutting-edge eXtended Reality technologies<\/em><\/strong> with Universal Design principles<\/em><\/strong> and tailored training programs<\/em><\/strong>, the 34 public and private project partners<\/a> reimagine accessibility at every stage of the travel chain. Through co-creation and learning communities<\/em><\/strong>, BridgXR brings together people with disabilities, transportation providers, policymakers, local authorities, consultants, and technology developers. This unique collaboration ensures that solutions are grounded in real needs and deliver real impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To put ideas into practice, BridgeXR runs case studies<\/em><\/strong> in urban multi-modal travel, campus commuting, and trips to and from airports. These living labs highlight accessibility challenges, foster collaboration, and allow for innovative solutions to be tested, refined, and scaled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paving the way<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The impact goes beyond technology. BridgeXR is paving the way for greater independence and mobility, a higher quality of life, and more inclusive transportation policies. By showcasing the power of inclusive design, the project aims to inspire long-term change\u2014making travel not only more accessible in the Netherlands, but also more inclusive worldwide.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
